1991 Ford F-150 fluid

What type of transmission fluid goes in the manual 5 speed overdrive on my 1991 f150 xlt larriet. The owners manual if I read it right says Mercon automatic transmission fluid that dosent sound right to me.

For 4, 5 or a Ze transmission you shouild use a 80w extreme pressure oil. It is 80 w oild but made for high pressure. You can cross reference when you get the oil at a auto store. The fluid is Ford o.E. # D8DZ-19C547A or equivelent fluid.
