1989 Ford F150 locked gears

while changing ignition switch on the tilt column. I unbolted the column and now my gears are stuck locked in park and reverse, any idea what went wrong.

That is a good one. I'm sitting here trying to picture what could have happened. The only thing that comes to mind is that maybe a bolt wasn't fully tightened and something is hitting. How much of the column did you remove?
