I am trying to replace the head Gasket. I have romved everthing down to and including the Valve Cover. I see the vales and the bolts for the hjead with in there. I need to know if the head gasket replacement only requires removing those bolts and lifting ht head off, or is there more I have to remove including the center piece that the Thermostat is attached to.

Thats the intake manifold, and yes it comes off, DO BOTH HEADS! send them to a machine shop to be checked for cracks, and have the valves, springs and valve seats done. If you don't do this, you are wasting your time!
