Ok so give me some history if you would. What have you checked or replaced at this point? Is this truck injected or carburated? Is it auto or manual trans? Get back to me and we will take it from there.

It a 4 speed manual trans. I just bought it so I have just started with it. It had a starting problem and I replaced altenator but that has nothing to do with the fluttering or bucking at 55 mph. It has a carborator. 1st-3rd gear no problem 4th gear on the highway fine until you get around 55-60 mph

Ok what I would do first is get a can of carb cleaner and clean the carb and then check the cap and rotor and plugs. Let me know what you find. Also do you know what carb you have? If not include a pic.

If I had to guess it is the original plugs and wires, dist and rotor. I will try the carb cleaner and change plugs and wires first. I take a pic for you

Rebuild the carb the rebuild kits are pretty easy and usually around 25$ just if you do make shure that it is very clean when putting it back together. Alot of the kits have enough parts to cover a few carbs so usually there will be a few extra parts left over in the kit. I just fixed 17 different carbs in the last 3 weeks and they all did the same and all were manual trans and all had problems in 4th gear. 1-2-3- gears no problem just 4th. Any problems write back and you can call me personally.
