I just purchased a 1986 Ford F-150 with about 132,000 miles. I put it in the shop to make it road and inspection worthy. The mechanic mentioned that my battery was probaly dead since he had to put a charge on it to get the truck to start.

I switched out the olod battery with one not new but with a full charge. That night I hooked up the battery to my charger to see how much juice it had. It was completely dead. Do I need to purchase a brand new battery or might it be a problem with my alternator? I hate having to hook my battery up every night just to get a days worth of driving out of it. Please help?

Get both the battery and alternator load tested if okay -check the electrical system for a short circuit that can be causing the battery to drain
