1992 Ford Explorer, V6 4.0L, 225,367 miles

Replaced the battery, starter/solenoid, and alternator, all were bad. The old alternator had bad bearings and the battery was just old. The car simply did not start and still wont. Accessories work, however only the solenoid clicks over, not the engine what so ever. The fly wheel is ok. Could it be the ignition coil, crankshaft sensor, or a faulty ground?

Have you checked all your fuses? Especially the ones under the hood. Also if you're not getting power to the starter, have you had a chance to check it with a voltmeter? You can pick one up at wal-mart for about $15, check the starter by putting the red lead on the connection where the big wire from the battery goes, then when the key is on check the smaller wire to see if it goes from nothing to having voltage. Tell us what numbers you get if any and we'll go from there.

I've checked all the fuses, the 15 amp Alternator field fuse was blown, replaced it, but with now results. Checked out the starter with an indicator light and got voltage at the ground and power cable. Also tried jumping from the solenoid, but with no luck.

Did you check both connections on the starter? Cause one is gonna be the constant power from the battery, and the other smaller gauge wire is the signal telling it to crank that only happens when you try to start the vehicle. It's best to check that with a voltmeter, but a test light will work. Disconnect that wire and hold your light on it and have someone turn the key to start and see if you get power. If you do you might have a bad starter too, if not then we'll go from there.
