For the hood, it must not be aligned correctly, air is probably causing it to move around.. if your steering wheel is off-center,, as long as the wheel has never been removed and re-installed incorrectly, then something in the front-end is out of whack,, either alignment is not correct or something is bent... the wheel should never be off-center unless one of the above.. personally I can't stand the wheel being even a hair off, Ii've driven cars where the friggin' thing is like 90 degrees off, I don't know how they could drive it like that... take your car back where it was repaired and have them finish the job right this time...

Suggested Repair

Return the Explorer to the shop that repaired the deer damage and have the job finished. Realign the hood so airflow does not lift the driver side. Do not simply recenter the steering wheel; check front-end alignment and for bent parts that can cause an off-center wheel and highway wobble.

Conversation Summary

A 2005 Ford Explorer that was repaired after hitting a deer has a driver-side hood that lifts at highway speed or behind a truck, plus extreme highway wobble that is not present at low speed. The steering wheel must be turned slightly right to drive straight, but the vehicle does not pull. The expert said the hood is likely misaligned and that an off-center wheel, if it was not removed and reinstalled incorrectly, points to incorrect alignment or bent front-end parts. The advice was to take it back to the repair shop.
