Burning Antifreeze?

I have a 2000 Ford Explorer XLS with 61,000 miles on it. 4 ltr, V6. The last couple of times I've had it in for an oil change they've had to add antifreeze. Today it was half a gallon. They couldn't find any leaks anywhere and suggested it could be a head gasket or cylinder going bad. The heater doesn't seem to be leaking (no fogging, or interior leaks or smell). There is no antifreeze in the oil. I'm not noticing any unusual smell, and the truck doesn't run hot, and I'm not seeing excessive steam in the exhaust. They're telling me to keep an eye on the antifreeze level for now. Just wondering if there could be any other causes for this? If not, how long can it last as is?

You are leaking coolant into the combustion chamber. It is either a bad head gasket, a cracked or warped head.

It is NOT a good sign and should be fixed asap or you will suffer engine damage. Water isn't compressable and can and will damge engine components.

Good luck

An oil change has nothing to do with it. The oil should be changed when the cylinder head is removed and the leak repaired.
