We were just given a quote to fix a broken strut in a 1996 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer at 1,300.00 to repair.
We can not afford to pay that today, are we doing damage to the vehicle to drive it? Is this repair price reasonable? What does the part alone cost?

What do you mean by "broken", is it leaking, worn out, or is it physically broken?
If it's worn or leaking then it will give you handling problems and abnormal tire ware but no other critical damage.
If it has physical damage replace as soon as possible.
