I own a 2003 Ford Explorer, and I wanted to know what all is involved in a 60,000 mile service. Any help would be appreciated.

Well if you bought it used and it has 60,000 miles on it. I would consider doing the basic stuff and let the vehicle run to the 100,000 mile mark. Change the oil, filter, check air filter, replace fuel filter, check other fluid levels and enjoy the ride. At the 100K level I would consider timing belt, change tranny fluid, plugs, wires, etc.

It can be confusing with all of the opinions and recommendations out there. If it was mine, I would think of the following:

Check air filter and cabin air filter conditions. I think the Ford coolant is rated for 3 years-need to check that. Check for carbon build up in the throttle plate area. Replace differential and transfer case fluids, replace transmission filter, spark plugs and fuel filter. Check for condition of power steering fluid, if black, change it, If brake fluid is not clear, replace it. Check for looseness in any steering components and u-joints. Change oil & filter, check air pressures and conditions of tires.
