where can I find the necessary (online ?) documentation to replace the interior rotary headlight switch?

what tools will I need?

torx 15 driver,45 degree pick to take the knob off or even a small stright screw driver can do it.when you say rotory are you meaning with a thumb wheel or a knob a 9/32 socket a 5/16 socket. best way would be to get you a chilton book on your car it will give you step by step.(NOS) 8)
