2007 Ford Explorer knocking sound from dashboard

My car makes an annoying knocking sound from behind the dashboard intermittently, seemingly only after the car is warmed up. I tried turning on and off the A/C and fan and it does it with them off and on. Anyone have any ideas?

Can you tell aprox where the noise is coming from?

It is coming from behind the dashboard on the driver side. it seems a little to the left of the steering wheel.

There are relays under there. It sounds like one of them. Have you checked for that?
