when you try to crank the explorer the car will just turn over and not crank. you have to turn the ignition off and on several times till the fuel pump comes on and then the car will crank. some times it will crank and then idle real rough and then die a few sec. later and sometimes it will run fine till you turn it off again, seems like the problem gets worse in the colder weather but it does it cold or warm as well. i have tried pressing the inertia reset switch but that doesnt seem to help at all. please help !!!

since you have to turn the key till the pump comes on you may have a bad fuel pump relay, but if that isnt the fix of it the pump may be bad.

or the ignition switch may be worn and it has to be constantly turned untill it finally completes the connection.
