I'm putting new brake pads on our truck, after I finished and was going to test drive I heard a loud grinding noise only when backing up and braking. Any ideas what this is? When going forward and braking the noise doesnt happen

Check the backing plate behind the rotor. Many times they get bent or rust causes them to rub against the rotor.

Let me know if this helps.
