My 2004 Explorer Eddie Bauer edition is not holding memory presets. I have to push the seat button, push the RESET button for the desired dash display, turn on the AC and set the temperature every time the car is started. All these functions used to automatically come up when the car was started. I hope there is a simple solution such as a fuse.

Last month my Explorer experienced a slow start and since it was the original battery a call to AAA brought a serviceman who replaced the battery. After the replacement all problems disappeared. No more ABS light or lights shutting off on automatic (which can be really disorienting), the seats come to position when the key is inserted and the A/C returns to the settings it was left on. Until the slow start I had no idea the battery was going bad. I assume the lost presets were due to the battery dropping to a low voltage during start but the start was always quick. If I remember correctly the low point for a good battery during start shoud be no lower than 8VDC so a good check would have been to slap a DVM with a low reading memory across the battery during start.
