I have a 2004 ford explorer that is experiencing transmission problems. I have researched the make & model and found that this is apparently common with this car. I’ve read hundreds of complaints or explorer owners and they are having the same issue. Some of them have even paid for the solenoid pack to be replaced only to find out a week or so later that the whole transmission needs to be replaced- and I don’t want to make the same mistake- I just want the whole thing to be rebuilt or to get a new one installed- whatever the cheapest option is. I am pressed for time & money. The O/D light is blinking and the service engine soon light is on non stop. The car jerks into gear and will go up to 3 or 4 RPM’s –while going 10-20 mph before it jerks into the right gear. Are you familiar with this issue? Do you charge for an estimate? Thanks.

At 100k miles, with thetrans slipping I would have it rebuilt rather than just fix the solenoid pack. When they slip it damages the clutch packs and will shorten their life drastically.

Yeah thats what I was thinking. I called around where im located and got 4 prices ranging from $1845-$2500-- all including labor and whatever is involved. I told them when I called I do not want to deal with just getting the pack replaced- I just want the trans rebuilt. All places I called will do a free check and said it takes about 3-5 days. Thanks so much.

No problem. Better to deal with it all now than back and forth. Good luck
