I have a 2003 Ford Explorer and it has recently started to have issues. Whenever I am at a red light, while it is in drive and I have my foot on the brake, my car acts like it is about to die. It shakes and seems like it isn't getting enough gas to run (regardless of how much fuel I have in my tank). Also I can feel the car wanting to lurch forward, to the point where if I didn't have my foot on the brake it would hop forward. In the evening, when I have my headlights on, I can see that they dim at the same time this happens.

Anyone heard of this?

Also just changed the oil and oil filter and that did not solve the problem.

Has the check engine light come on? When was the last tune up? Have you checked fuel puimp pressure?

Yes, the check engine light has come on, but sometimes it stays on and other times it goes off but the shaking and lurching doesnt stop.

I have not had a tune up nor checked the fuel pump pressure unless they checked it when I got the oil changed (not sure what all they check)

THey wouldn't have done it with the oil change. Here is what I need. If the check engine light is on, there is a trouble code stored in the computer. I need to know what it is. Take the car to a nationally recognized parts store and have them scan it. Most will do it for free. That will help us identify where the problem is coming from.

Have that done and let me know what code you get.
