2003 Ford Explorer Rattling noises from engine

2003 Ford Explorer 2WD with 107000 miles. Sudden rattling noise heard when started. Will not start right now, but it will turn over. Also noticed a silver piece of metal near a chain sticking out of the fiber glass casing.

Sound as u had just lost an engine
very common for the timing chain to fail
