I just got the pinion replaced and now noticed that it make a grinding type noise when deaccelerating. I crawled under vehicle and grabbed where drive flange connects to pinion flange and turned it back and forth about half inch each way. Is that supposed to do that or is that normal and any ideas on the noise. Thank You

It's normal. However, the noise isn't. I would have that rechecked. They may need to readjust the backlash.
