2003 Ford Explorer AC/Heat only work for a short time

Just purchased an 03 Ford Explorer with 94,000 miles and now noticed that the AC will push out mildly cool air (not cold at all) and the heat will only work for about 30 seconds before changing over to cooler air.

Try pinching off one of the heater hoses with the A/C on and see if it gets colder.
