fuel filter location I need to replace it?

just forward to the fuel tank on passenger side of frame. Notice a small plastic shroud held on with two small nuts. remove the shroud to access fuel filter. easy to change once you find it.

fuel filter is under vehicle, driver side,below seating ara, mounted on the frame in fuel line.

2002 Explorer 4X4, 4.6L V-8, 99,600 miles.

I want to change the fuel filter. Do I need to worry about air in the line since this is a fuel injected engine or will the air take care of itself?

IT will purge the air itself, don't worry about it. When you go to re-start it, turn the key to the on position and let the pump energize the lines, then turn the key back to off for 5 seconds and return the key to the on position again. Do this a couple times and it will start right up. You can just crank the engine too, it just wears on the starter a little bit but also works.

Welcome to the forum. My info says, under the vehicle, driver side, attached to frame. Looks like quick connect fittings, you may a tool to release fittings, the autostores should sell the tool. Make sure there is no pressure on the system, before taking anything loose. Gas may run out of lines, don't let anything electrical be too close. If too much gas runs out, plug the line, till your ready with new filter. The picture is from autozone.

I believe it is located on the inside frame rail on the drivers side around the area of the drivers seat.

How do you R&R fuel filter (2 hoses in 1 out ?? which is which ??) What tools do you need & are there any resets or overides that need to be performed ??

no resets required. basic mechanic tools (wrenches , socket etc..)

It's located just under the driver's seat on the frame rail.

You will need a 13mm socket/wrench, and a flat screwdriver to undo the supporting bracket/clamp respectively. A special tool is required on most models to release the fuel line; however, it is relatively cheap and can be obtained at your local parts store. It is used like a quick-disconnect to undo the fuel line.

Once disconnected the new filter is just snapped on the line with ease and the safety clips can be reinstalled and thus the filter remounted.
