1. Make and Model of your car: Ford Explorer
2. Include the mileage: 35000
3. Stick shift or automatic transmission: Automatic
4. 2 or 4 wheel drive: 2 WD
5. Strange sounds: No
6. Fluid leaks: No
7. Past repair history if applicable: Front discs and pads replaced for warped rotors.

My problem is I went on a road safety test today with my ford and it performed badly. The rear brakes were not locking nor did the rotors ever get hot. I thought the explorer had ABS but the tech at the testing site he didn't think it had ABS. I got home tonight and the vehicle sticker that was in my car when I bought it had ABS. I have two questions: What could be my car problem and what does the ABS device look like in the ford?

Thanx

Hey AirForce Guy,

Your ABS module can be located on the forward grill left side of the radiator in the engine compartment. Or you can look at the front right corner of your battery then look strait down. You will see the ABS module, can't miss four lines coming out from the top of the module. I have a 03 Explorer, ABS mudules are three components wrapped into one item. By the way I'm retired Navy, willing to help another service member. As for your brake problem, did you pump the brakes after the new pads were installed? When replacing pads at times the caliper piston has to be pushed in to fit over the new pads, then pump the brake pedal to bring pressure back up front. Also a good point bleed a small amount of fluid so your brake fluid stays around the low to max level within the reservoir.
