I have an '02 Explorer Sport. When I go over about 40 MPH my steering wheel shakes. I replaced a tire with a slow leak, but it still shakes. I have not had to replace the shocks and struts yet (64,200 miles) could it be that they need replaced?

If it only happens over a bump, I would have all steering components checked first. You may have a bad tie rod or other component.

Let me know what you find. Also, a bad shock shouldn't cause a vibration in the steering.
