My O/D light just started flashing along with the transmission shifting irradically. I was thinking that I would change the filter and fluid to see if that might change anything before I take it to the dealer. Could you give me a brief walk-through on this procedure? My financial situation has gone completely into the toilet since our new moron of a president took over, so I have to ask for a freebie this time. But, hey, the president seems to think everything should be free, unfortunately we all know that there is no such thing as free and that someone is paying for it. THANK-YOU VERY MUCH.

I agree. We are all paying for it. Regardless, I question if the service is going to do anything. Basically, remove the trans pan (about 12 bolts, the fluid will drain out so remove it slowly. Once off, you will see the filter. Remove the filter, replace with the new one, clean gasket material, replace gasket, pan, and refill the trans.

If the light is on, you may want to have take it to a nationally recognized parts store and have them scan the computer. Most will do it for free and it may help you identify where the problem is coming from.

Let me know if you have questions.

If overdrive light is flashing yes you need to take it to Some one that can scan it. If you have gear error ratio codes and pressure solenoid code you can check for broken band servos but usually on this transmission (5R55E)It is a sign of servo bores worn out a very common problem that causes shift error codes and pressure control solenoid code. The only fix if it has these codes and not a broken servo piston is to have professional trans shop pull it and re bore and sleeve servo bores. Hopes this helps
