tried to change rear brake pads no problem to do. But this explorer also has shoes &seems like I have to take the nut that on the spindle to get the pads off. First does any body know what size socket it is &if I get the nut off the spindle will I be able to take the part that has the lug screws I am not sure but I think it is thebearing hub. The rear nut requires a 36MM dep well socket. Borrow one from your local auto parts store, or buy one for $20 at NAPA.

The rear shoes are the E brake shoes that run inside the disc. I had to take the entire knuckle to a shop to have the hub pressed out, the brake shoes replaced, then the hub pressed back in. No way there was enough space to get in between the hub and the dust shield to replace the shoes.
