2002 Ford Explorer 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic

The overdrive light came on"the light says overdrive off" I took it to Advance Auto and they put it on their computer. The computer said Shift solenoid B. I was told there are 2 solenoids 1 in the transmission and 1 on the outside. How do I know or find out whitch solenoid it is? My trans Revs up to 4000 rpms from going from 1st to 2nd gear. The shift solenoids are inside the transmission. They can be accessed by removing the oil pan. You can check them with an ohmmeter.

The revving between 1st and 2nd may be because the solenoid is failing to activate 2nd gear, and the transmission is actually shifting from 1st to 3rd.
