how do you pull out the instrument cluster and inspect the illumination bulbs on the back of it?

I was going to attempt to do the same thing with my Explorer, but after buying a Chiltons manual which explains how to do that, I decided that it was too complex for me to try with my very limited experience.
One of the first things that is in the manual is to disable the mechanism that operated the drivers side airbag.
