I started up my 02explorer and it starts ok, but I noticed the check guage light came on and the oil pressure guage was at zero. I gave it some gas while in park and the guage went up half way and stayed (check light went off). It drove fine and happened to days later again. What is this a sign of?

Check the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge,if normal replace the oil pressure switch. If abnormal could mean oil pump and/or engine bearing.
