2002 Ford Explorer Brake Lights

I am having problems with my brake lights. Unless I push the pedal completely to the floor the lights will not come on. The brakes work fine and if I come to a complete stop then the lights will work. I heard there was a switch that the pedal triggers to do this. If so, were is it and how easy of a task is it to complete? Thanks!

There is a switch called a BPP (Brake Pedal Position)
It is located right on the steel brake pedal shaft itself.
You will see a rod running to your brake pedal from the fire wall. The rod goes through a little rubber seal boot.

If your brake lights come on with the brake pedal right to the floor, it has too much travel. The tail lights should come on with a little more than one inch of travel.
The BPP switch is very easy to get to and see.
It's right on the brake pedals steel actuator bar.
Just a little tightening or travel adjustment is needed and you will be all set. I really doubt that a new switch is needed at the 115,000 mile mark.
When you take a peek at it you will see the adjustment is easy and straight forward to do.
