My 02 explorer's heating and air conditioning isn't working right. If you have it on air it will blow out cold air but when you switch it to heat it makes a thumping sound in the dash and wont switch over unless you hit a hard bump in the road but then you cant get it to switch back to ac later. What could this be.

Chances are the blender door is sticking. It is located near the heater core and determines if you get heat or AC. Have that checked.
