HOW DO I CHECK TO SEE IF THE AUTOMATIC 4 WHEEL DRIVE IS ON? ALSO SHOULD IT BE ENGAGED EVEN IN DRY WEATHER?

The auto 4wd is on all the time. The only way it will engage, however, is when the rear wheels slip. At that point, a speed sensor recognizes that the rear wheels are spinning faster than the front and the front wheels are automatically engaged.
