2001 Ford Explorer Steering wheel and tire

When I turn the wheel left or right there is a noise like a clicking or skipping next to the tire or in the axel on the driver side, also the steering wheel seems lose when I turn left and right.

What you have described sounds like a bad CV joint. They will click when turning. Have that checked and let me know what you find.
