2001 Ford Explorer Rear door latch

My 2001 Explorer rear door latch will not open . And I cant figure out how to get into the door panel to diagnose whether it is the handle ,latch or linkage between the two.

i believe that the rear door panel is kept on that
snap in. you might be able to get it our far enough
to get to the latch. dou you have a electric release? if so try it and hear if it make a clicking sound. this sounds syupid but i have had the same problem. i closed the hatch with a piece of fabric on the latch and it got wedged in and i could not open it with the key or electric.
