1999 Ford Explorer Whinning noise!!

When ever I drive my car and I'm idle there's a really loud whinning noise coming from underneath the hood. When I press the gas I don't hear it anymore and this only happens in the summer months when it's really HOT! During the winter it never happens. What could this problem be?

Does it only do it when the a/c is on? Might be a bad compressor, tensioner or belt
