My 1999 ford explorer seems to have a dark mirky color to it. Now, I checked the oil, no water. I checked the plugs, perfectly fine. There is also no white smoke coming from my tailpipe so I think I can rule out the head gasket. I also took the radiator cap off to test compression and all the coolant did was slowly rise. No bubbles or bolw out. So, what other reasons could there be?

Is it the engine oil that has the dark color?
