1999 Ford Explorer 4X4 high and 4X4 low light

my 4X4 high and my 4x4 low light comes on at the same time and flashes maybe 3 or 4 times and stops then does it again about 5 minutes later and repeats every five minutes. Whats the problem?

It sounds like there is a short in the wiring. Have you had the computer scanned to see if there are any codes stored? Also, check where the wiring harness attaches to the actuator to make sure it is clean, tight, and not damaged.

Would this be the problem if the rest of the gauges in the instument panel are working?

No, the other gauges may be working fine. The wiring I'm refering to is on the actual transfer case. There is a wiring harness to the 4wd actuator.
