Hello,

In order to replace the water pump in this Explorer, you will have to remove the engine cooling fan shroud and the drive belt.
This can be done using basic hand tool.
It can be done in 2-3 hours depending on your comfort level.
Remember to only work on the cooling system when the engine is cold.
Also be sure to drain the coolant before taking off the water pump to minimize coolant going all over.
The water pump should cost around $80.00-$140.00. As for the installation it will depend on the shop labor, can cost around $300.00-$400.00.
