1998 Ford Explorer 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

the turn signal will blink 2-3 times then stop when used left or right. both flasher work fine. replaced flasher under hood.
what else can i check??

when this happens, do the lights turn off or stay lit with no flash?
