1998 Ford Explorer shifting

i have a 98 ford explorer all wheel with a 302 5.0 engine. my truck is not shifting right. it tacks out a 2500-3000 then u have to let off and then 1st gear will kick in... the rest of the gears shift fine.. we put a new transmission filter and tranny fluid in it and we allso replaced the shift cyclond.. and it is still doing the same thing..... any suggestions....

Hi CHELSEANEE,

Since all the other gears are working fine, it should not be a line pressure problem.

Either the valve body is faulty or the first clutch is weak or has leaking pressure.

Does trans work ok after warming up?
