Engine Mechanical problem
1998 Ford Explorer 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

I was wondering is there another engine besides the 4liter Vin E engine I can put in my Explorer? Also is the Air Intake on the stock engine compatable with a engine out of a 2001 Explorer? Thanks

First, we only recommend direct fit parts. As far as the question, if you don't get the same engine, the computer, sensors, vacuum hoses, wiring harness... will be different. I'm not saying it isn't possible, but it is not worth the effort, time, and money to change engine size.
