I want to disable the auto lamp in my '98 Explorer. I've located the five (5) wires that lead to the auto lamp mirror:

- White w/Pink stripe (Park Lamp Relay Control)
- Black w/Pink stripe (Reverse Input)
- Black (Ground wire)
- Light Green w/Yellow stripe (Power *Always Hot)
- Red w/White stripe (Inginition *Only Hot at start)

Which wire(s) should I cut in order to completely disable the auto lamp feature WITHOUT causing any problems with the manual switch on the dash? One (1) individual responded and advised that I should cut the "thin black wire", and he probably means the ground wire leading to the auto lamp mirror, but I'd like some additional concurrence or expert guidance. Thanks! Dan

Hello Dan Dimond

welcome to 2carpros.

The white w/Pink stripe (Park Lamp Relay Control) goes to dual brake warning diode/resistor assembly. (Do not cut)
- Black w/Pink stripe (Reverse Input) (to back up, neutral safety) do not cut
- Black (Ground wire) (yes) cut just from the module.
- Light Green w/Yellow stripe (Power *Always Hot) goes to fuse #11 15A(do not cut)
- Red w/White stripe (Ignition *Only Hot at start)
