What type of fluid does my front end take? It's making a roaring sound after it warms up and i have replace the fluid with gear oil, is this the right fluid for it???

Yes, the front differential takes gear lube, GL5. Has the noise gone away?

No, actually the noise has gotten worse since I added gear oil.

Hi:
As a result of being low on fluid, it sounds like a bearing has gone bad. Check the front drive shaft where it attaches to the differential and shake it to see if there is play.
