I was driving my explorer yesterday and all was fine. Went out later that day and noticed that all of a sudden I have to push the brake pedal all the way to the floor before the brakes engage. Is this just a brake pedal adjustment or something more?

The vehicle is equipped with hydraulic brakes. Some where weather external or internal you have a fluid leak. Do not drive the vehicle till brakes are fixed. Even if it stops now when pushing to floor doesnt mean it will stop the next time. Check brake master cylinder fluid level. If level is ok it may have an internal leak such as a master cylinder. If fluid is low check for external leaks such as lines or wheel cylinders.

Thank you very much for your help. I can see a puddle under my left rear wheel now. The fluid level is extremely low so I am lookin for a leak in the brake lines now.

Pull the left rear wheel and drum inspected the wheel cylinder for leakage. Its most likely the wheel cylinder or the line going to it.
