Having my cluch repaired 4 years ago, after stopping at a light or stop sign it became dificult to shift into gear, once the vehicle was moving shifting seemed ok.

Recently while driving to work it became difficult to shift from first gear to second gear. and after traveling several miles I tried to get into gear but there was just grinding.

Now I can press on the cluch pedal but the only thing that it will do is start. The gear shift moves freely whether the cluch is pressed or not but will not engage the gears. Could you please tell me what the problem could be?

Hi:
It sounds like the pressure plate is bad. If it is too weak, it will not engauge the engine.
