is it better for me to buy a new mass air flow sensor or just clean it with some throttlebody cleaner and will
it still do the same thing

I would attempt to clean it .. if the fault is still occuring once cleaned .. replace it .. sometime's cleaning works .. you can purchase MAF cleaner from an autparts store !
