SPEEDOMETER/ODOMETER INOPERATIVE
Verify connector is properly attached at speed sensor. If connections are good and drive tip is correctly seated, go to next step. If connections are poor or drive tip is not seated, repair/replace as necessary. Retest system.
Check operation of odometer and speedometer pointer. If odometer operates and speedometer pointer does not, go to next step. If odometer does not operate, replace speedometer. See SPEEDOMETER/ODOMETER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
Check operation of speedometer pointer. If speedometer pointer operates, go to next step. If pointer does not operate, replace speedometer. See SPEEDOMETER/ODOMETER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
Disconnect speedometer connector from vehicle speed sensor and remove vehicle speed sensor. Ensure shaft in vehicle speed sensor turns freely. If shaft turns freely, go to next step. If shaft does not turn freely, replace vehicle speed sensor. See VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
Check drive gear for damage or wear. If drive gear is damaged, replace gear. Check system for operation. If drive gear is undamaged, system is okay.
