we have a 1996 ford explorer that as we were driving lost all
brakes and we were almost in an accident, brake pedal to the floor and not wanting to stop, upon inspection we
found the drivers side front brake pads almost gone but they were less then 10k old and no trouble codes or lights on the dash and no blown fuses as far as we could tell
the brakes lines on the front brake lines have fluid and pressure but the rear rear lines not much pressure and brake fluid thick and discolored

First, the premature wear can be caused by a sticking caliper slide or the piston in the caliper may be sticking. If they are both good, replace the rubber brake hose to that caliper.

As far as the loss of brakes, even though the brake pads are low, you shouldn't loose brakes. If the brake pedal went to the floor and there are no leaks, chances are the master cylender is bad.
