1996 Ford Explorer V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

i try tried to hook a cd player up but i had the wrong connectors so i out the factory stereo back up but it wont come on no power so how would i hook it up

It should get power from the plugs. Have you checked to see if the fuse is good?
