My truck slips in and out of 4x4. I have heard a lot about a transfer case motor. What does this part do. And could be my problem

The 4wd actuator motor is responsible for shifting the transfer case into 4wd. However, once it shifts, it should stay in 4wd. If your car is slipping in and out of 4wd is there ever a clunking sound? Have you checked the vacuum hoses going to the front axle? They are responsible for engaging the front axle. If there is a leak, they could cause the same problem.

Let me know.
