Engine Cooling problem
1995 Ford Explorer Four Wheel Drive Automatic 13600 miles

I have replaced the tstat, one temp single pole sensor, and the fan clutch.

The temp gauge will not rise the the normal level and stabalize. It goes to the normal range and moves back about 1/4" then back the normal range.

It does not over heat and has not over heated.

What's up?

Actually, that doesn't sound too out of the ordinary. When the engne cools, the t-stat should slightly close raising the engine temp. When it hits its target temp, it will open fully and cool off.

WHen you say you replaced the temp sensor, was it the temp sending unit or the ambient temp sensor?
